I have a little time on my hands on Thursday evenings while Sue watches Project Runway. At times I wonder if anyone even checks in to our blog anymore. It started while we were still living in Brazil, to keep in touch with our kids in the states. Now I wonder if it's worth continuing, and usually I end up doing something else on the computer instead of this.
In the end of October, we went to a seminar on suppliments for Medicare - that was a first time cultural experience. Afterwards, since the road we were on led into the hills, we decided to go up and explore around the area.
It was fun and beautiful, and the natural reserve with hiking trails was pretty cool.Halloween continues to be an unusual cultural experience for us. We can't understand how it became such a big holiday. It was a first for our granddaughter Elliana. She was cute all dressed up as a giraffe. Her wagging tail was definitely the best part. Since she goes to bed at six-thirty, trick-or-treating was kind of limited. But she got to wear her costume to several parties with friends.
Back in Grand Rapids, our grandson Jordan was outfitted as his favorite superhero!
That night, we had a pizza in the shape of a jack o'lantern.
Another cultural experience was election day and the privilege of voting. It was nice here in California that they had directions in languages we could understand.
Temperatures have gone down a little as autumn sets in, but there's not much color.
Most of our color comes in the roses and orchids blooming in our front garden.
Jordan celebrated his 5th birthday this past Monday. Elliana celebrated her 1st birthday today. She loved the rocking horse that Grandpa and Grandma got her.
A cultural experience that we are used to is having a big party celebrating the first birthday. Now that's very Brazilian! On Saturday over thirty people will celebrate Ellie's birthday in a nearby park, complete with Brazilian barbecue -yummm!
