One weekend in April, friends of ours from our church in Brazil came to visit. Carla, who teaches English at a college in Bauru was chaperoning a group of students for a month of study at a university in Chicago. Her husband Beto got some time off from his job as a CSI to spend ten days in the states as well. Last time we were together was last summer in San Diego for 4th of July when Carla was studying in the states.
The forecast was for rain, but it turned out to be a nice day to show them around Grand Rapids. Of course we went by Calvin College to see the William Spoelhof administration building and fieldhouse.
Driving through downtown, everyone was so hungry that finding food became more important than seeing the Grand River.
After lunch we swung around by Miejer Gardens to see the flowers and art.
The Butterfly are Blooming exhibit was still going on so they got to see that, but with all the butterflies we have in Brazil, it wasn't that impressive.
da Vinci's horse made a big impression though.

It seemed like we didn't stop talking the whole time we were together. But what a great visit we had!

The Fieldhouse Complex is actually named after John & Judy, so it's even BETTER than the Admin Bldg.!! ;0]
