We returned from a weekend ministry trip yesterday evening, and decided that today would be a good "downtime" day to recover. I don't remember getting so tired after weekend trips in the past, but since I'm not used to downtimes, I'll do a blog.
We are settled into our apartment now, and enjoy the space.
My wife has done a nice job once again making a place into a home for us.

Earlier in the month we were able to have a short but sweet time with friends from our church in Brazil, João and Andressa and their little boy Pedro, who were traveling around Michigan.

It was fun to go out to supper and visit with them and colleagues Tim and Andrea Blazer and their family, and just catch up a little.

We had a fun time at the John Ball Park Zoo with grandson Jordan and his aunt Natali last week. It was a cool day, but at least it didn't rain while we were walking around. A neat thing that wasn't there when I was a kid was Nessy on the pond.

One of Jordan's favorites was the penguins. We were there a long time watching them swim and dive and waddle around.

He was pretty brave to go in and pet the goats and sheep, but wasn' too interested in the pigs.

He gets pretty silly when when we're together, and is willing to do most anything to get grandpa to laugh.

But then he's usually happy because Grandpa will do about anything he asks! And get about as silly as he.

We travelled around southern Michigan this weekend. First stop was in Portage on Saturday morning, where Sue spoke to a ladies' group about growing in grace. From there we went over to Detroit area and spoke at a church in Hazel Park. Both of these churches have supported our ministry since before we first went to Brazil, and it was a blessing to be with the folks there.

Of course, we stayed near Ann Arbor and spent time with Natali when she wasn't working. It was fun wandering around the cool town where she lives...at least until the thunderstorms hit.

Yay! I just got a call from Old Country Buffet telling me that I won a free meal at their restaurant! I'm sure my doctor (who says I should lose weight) wouldn't like to hear that, but I'm happy!
