The unofficial start to summer - Memorial day weekend has come and gone, and it was fun once the storms went through.
Yesterday morning, Jordan and his mom came over to go swimming. The outdoor pool at our apartment complex was opened for the first time this year. Being used to swimming where it's around eighty degrees most of the year, going into that water was just too cold for me. After about a half hour of Jordan standing in the water on the first step of the pool and Lynne turning numb in the water trying to get him in, we decided to go to the clubhouse and use the heated indoor pool. But the clubhouse door wasn't open and I didn't have my key so that was a no-go.
I had read about some the parades in the area and times. Most were at nine a.m. (too early for me), but one place had parade at noon, and it was only about ten minutes from home.

We hopped into the car, and drove down to Caledonia. It was the first time any of us had ever been to this town, and first time Jordan had ever gone to a parade.

We got there and sat down just as the police cars and fire trucks were coming down the street. There were lots of drums with two marching bands.

The veterans marched by or rode on motorcycles or on classic cars while people waved flags and clapped.

In ten minutes the whole thing was over, but it was fun! And that was a good length for a kid's first parade.

That afternoon we drove down to Grand Haven and walked part of the boardwalk along the channel. The weather was in the eighties and the channel, the boats and beach were beautiful.

We fell into temptation at the Temptations ice cream shop to get refreshed!

What a nice Memorial day it was!

Are you kidding me - wasn't it 90 yesterday? We were burning up yesterday? I would think the water would feel refreshing. I bet it felt nice today.
The water was LOVELY -- your dad is just a wuss! ;0] Grand Haven was incredible, and I was really glad to take them both by myself. Plus now I'm super excited for Coast Guard!
