The past couple weeks have been spent helping our colleague Sue Lodico get ready to leave Brazil and return to the states. She made it, but with lots of good-bye parties and not without tearful moments. The teens had were the first to have a party for her on Saturday night.

Sue S (not sure how else to describe her here) made a huge banana split for everyone using an eaves trough (clean and new). The kids loved it! She also made a scrapbook with everyone’s pictures and all the kids wrote something of memories for Sue L to remember them.

Sunday was another World Cup game in the afternoon which we showed on the big screen at church, and that led right into the evening service and another farewell.

Face painting and wearing the Brazil colors are part of cheering the team along.

Who wins?!

The farewell service was very nice.

At the reception time after the service folks got together from the small groups and planned a farewell churrasco – Brazilian barbecue – for Sue.

Monday night there were forty people from those groups out for churrasco. Yummm! It was good and fun! And I think by then I think she was running out of tears.

Sue had moved in with us over the last ten days before she left. The last couple days were taken up by last minute packing, folks stopping by for good-byes and another World Cup game thrown in for good measure.

Thursday, we got her on the bus to the airport in Sao Paulo and on her way to the States. She should be settling in there these days.
It is kind of quiet around here now.
