The value of the US dollar just keeps going down here. We continue to tighten our belts and cut corners. It’s not the first time we’ve been through this in our years in Brazil, and through both the good times and tough times, God’s always taken care of us!
Our two ABWE churches celebrated Labor Day together last Thursday with a big Brazilian barbecue. The day was cold, rainy and windy but everyone had a great time. More than eighty people came out in spite of the weather, but no one wants to miss out on delicious food.
For the past few months, we have been requesting prayer for God’s leading with future planning and direction of our church here in Bauru. It is exciting to now share some new developments.
Our church plant, the New Life Baptist Church, and our sister ABWE church plant, Community Baptist, will be joining forces to better reach our city for Christ. The decision to join the two churches came about after many months of prayer, consultation with our field administrator, meetings with our Brazilian church leadership, and planning sessions with our missionary colleagues. In the end of April, at the church business meeting, the vote regarding this union was approved unanimously by the members. Sue, Val, Andrea

The contracts have been signed on a rental facility, located about midway between the two present buildings, which will serve this new congregation perfectly. The remodeling and preparation of the building are already underway, with a goal to have the first joint service there in the beginning of June. There is much to do! Besides the physical details at the church's new location, we are meeting for hours each week to plan the direction, goals, organization, budget and outreach ministries that will be followed. Wisdom and clarity of God's direction are needed.
