'Tis the Season

Our favorite holidays are starting, and it is so nice to celebrate with family and friends. I read somewhere, "Like ornaments, special people brighten the season and warm our hearts."
We saw a hand sculpture this past weekend. It was just like the pen and ink drawing on the birth announcement that we had for our son Joel when he was born. It also reminded us how thankful we are for the grandchildren we now have.
Talk about precious, Elliana is now three weeks old. Aaron and Rachel have been kind and send new pictures each day from California.
Grandson Jordan came over with his dad and mom for Thanksgiving day. Usually playing - for him - involves Cars and knocking down Lincoln Log cabins that Grandpa builds (I do have fun building the cabins though), but this time he brought his cool new game of Hi Ho Cherry-O which he likes to play over and over especially if he wins.
This past weekend we were in Indiana with some great friends from the past - the Souths and the Tigers. It has been kind of difficult to get together very often with one family living in Indiana, another in Ohio and us in Brazil.
We met over thirty years ago, and the last time we were together was eight years ago.
But it was amazing that when we were together again, time seemed to melt away as we talked late into the night and played games and laughed until we cried.
On Friday evening, we went to dinner at the Bluegate restaurant in Shipshewanna followed by a five grand piano concert - awesome! And on Saturday night, we enjoyed The Miracle on 34th Street at a theater in the round - outstanding!
By Sunday after church, it was hard to say good-bye, but we had to head home and do laundry so Sue could get packed to travel to California on Monday.
She had a good flights out, and is now enjoying our granddaughter (as well as her dad and mom, I imagine), and celebrating her three week birthday! Seems like it is all smiles!
