As Time Goes By

August was a month that reminded us that time is passing.
Early on, we had a party to celebrate Joel's wife Lynne's birthday. Yum! Always room for cake, ice cream and M&Ms.
A few days later it was Grandma Spoelhof's 98th birthday. She insisted that she couldn't be that old, and she also insisted that she didn't want cake to celebrate...so we bought doughnuts.
She almost got blown over with all the help blowing out the candles (and she only had one bite).
With no more doughnuts to eat, Jordan had to push G-ma up and down the halls in her wheelchair. But the part she liked best came at the end of all the "partying" - hugs from her great-grandson!
Another couple days passed and Sue and I celebrated our 38th wedding anniversary. It was a day out in Saugatuck where Natali joined us for lunch.
Good times renewing friendships still reminded us that we're not getting any younger. But as we picnicked and visited in Pentwater, it was like the years faded away.
As always, sunset on Lake Michigan was worth going to the beach.
Being with my sister Pat brought up lots of stories from the past - for better or worse! But still, we could laugh as we remembered.
We are thankful for family and friends and good times and times of reflection! (check out the mirror in the shot below)
As August came to an end, we got to spend time with our grandson when his dad and mom went away. He likes trains - especially Thomas - so we went over to Coopersville for train ride.
We had a tootin' time on that ride with Jordan as conductor.
The bell rang as we pulled out of the station, and every time we passed a crossing, the whistle would blow four times - long, short, long, long - and we had to cover our ears.
Priceless moments!
