Oh, the weather outside is frightful...

Well, the weather around here usually isn't frightful, in fact most of the time it's sunny and warm, but afternoon rainstorms can be frightful or frightening! Last Tuesday and then again Sunday evening right before church service there were incredible storms and flooding that pretty much destroyed a main thoroughfare through town washing away both cars and pavement. In fact one man drown when caught in the flood current.
Inside, it was a different story. Christmas celebrations have begun. The first being with our youth group at church. It was our last meeting of the year, and after the devotional time and awards for memorizing scripture, Sue had lined up different games to play. The first game was seeing who could hold an ice cube on the back of their neck the longest.
It was still ninety degrees outside at nine at night, so they didn't mind the cold at all.
Then there were giftboxes wrapped inside giftboxes with a challenge in each one. Everything from using tree ornaments as earrings for the night.
To making up words from the letters of "Feliz Natal" or singing a carol (Christmas music is not well known here).
Or jumping around doing an elf dance.
And the last box opened was filled with chocolates!
Even the gift exchange was different. Each teen had to pick a ribbon which led them to their gift.
Everybody got a gift...and everybody got fed. They went through the pizzas in no time, and then finished off chocolate chip cookies and fudge.
It was a fun night. Our last one as leaders of the group as the new leaders will take over in January.
