This past week has there has been a new emphasis on patriotism here in Brazil. Not sure what has brought it on...the World Cup ended months ago, and after Brazil lost, any patriotism went out the window with it. I'm impressed though that even our birds are patriotic.

It was our grandson's third birthday this month. He's three already. Haven't seen him since he was eight months old. He liked the gift we sent him, or at least I think he did (the toy is sitting on the chair while he plays in the box).

With all the hype for his latest movie, I thought this next shot was interesting...apparently there was a real Harry Potter! But it looks like Voldemort got the upper hand.

November here is filled with holidays, though Thanksgiving is not one of them. November 15 was flag day here, and a beautiful day for a ride. Folks from church went bicycling on some back roads around town that morning to help out a sister church with food supplies to distribute around a needy neighborhood.

Each rider contributed one kilo - 2 pounds - of food to go for the ride. And no one complained about aches and pains at the end.

We never have much spring weather, or rather "winter" is like spring for us. But hot days of summer are upon us again, and afternoon rain storms. As I write a storm is blowing in.

Now the rain is starting, and getting heavier, along with high winds which literally whistle through our apartment. Streets are starting to flood as well during the end of day rush hour.

Guess it is time to sign off and turn off the computer. Tchau.
