We had an intresting 4th of July weekend, though not very “stateside”. It was an early start for Friday as I was first to speak for a two day workshop for salesmen (about twenty-five of them), giving a word from the Word. The owner of the company, a member of our church, invited me to speak. After my turn I stayed a while to listen in, and the other speakers were very motivational. However, there was other work to do to get ready for other weekend activities.

It was a cold Saturday night for fondue dnner with the teens from church. There was quite a bit of work getting it all together, but the kids loved it. Each kid had to contribute something to eat which cut down expenses for us. Between leaders and kids there were twenty-two people eating.

The shindig started a little after eight and ended a little after midnight. I usually don’t care for the cheese dip, but even that was good. Most of the teens had never done fondue before and went crazy with the meat and chicken, including dipping tomatoes (yuck), potatoes and onions (not as bad as the tomatoes, but still pretty yucky).

Of course the best was the final chocolate dip (our chocolate fountain was a hit again) with fruits and marshmallows, or for those of us who found spoons, just spoon out the chocolate! We did sections of our Bible study between courses, and it all worked out well.

After clean-up we got home around one in the morning, but it was worth all the work.
Sunday we thought numbers would be down after all the activities of anniversary month plus lots of folks are down with colds and flu, but there were over a hundred out for the service.

On Monday our ABWE field council celebrated US Independence Day wth a picnic of left over meat and chicken from the fondue. I've got to admit, Monday is more a “crash day” so we were all pretty low-key, but it was still fun. After lunch, we went out to see the construction on Tim and Andrea’s new house. It will be really nice for them, but it was hard to believe that they would be living in it in another five weeks.

Tim and I are heading out soon on another couple home visits of church members. It is all so CRC to me, but the people love it! And yay, another holiday here on Thursday!
