Go Fish

This past week, Sue and I went out for coffee with another couple who want to be members of our church. That’s so encouraging. During May, I will be doing the membership class again, and presently there are twenty people who will be coming in as new members at the annual meeting in the end of May.
Tim and I had a pastors’ planning meeting this morning. There’s a lot going on these next few weeks. It is hard to believe that an annual business meeting is coming up, and then the first Sunday in June we’ll be celebrating our first year together as New Life Baptist Community church. There have been lots of ups and downs during this year, but we continue moving ahead.
Saturday, the men from church went out to a chácara – country house – out on the river for a day of fishing and barbecue. The place was beautiful and so was the day.
There were eighteen guys that came out for the event, but only eight of us did any fishing.
And only one caught a fish that counted!
Well, honestly, Flavio caught one too, but size does make a difference! (You have to click on the picture to see the size of this one.)
So, guess who caught that one fish?!
That's right! Bill!! Well, ok, it was not so big without the close-up shot! But still... Anyway, in the end it got to go free.
Either way, it was a good thing we brought meat along and didn’t have to depend on the fishermen for the meal.
Everyone had a great time together, and it was really encouraging, fish or no fish.

Yea! Friday is another holiday. Thursday night, we’re going out with the teens for bowling. It’s only been about six years, so we’ll see if I can still do the old Fred Flintstone lead in and throw.
