We had a great weekend remembering the death and celebrating the resurrection of our Lord Jesus, and the victory that is ours in all He did. Easter bunnies and baskets and chocolate eggs are fun, but that’s not what it’s all about!
Sunday was outstanding with the sunrise resurrection worship service in the botanical gardens. This is the seventh year we have done this. We got to the gardens early to set up and while getting things going, a bunch of monkeys came out of the woods for some breakfast.

(Click on the picture and the image enlarges. Look closely and you can see about eight monkeys in and around the tree.) Life in the tropics! You never know what to expect!
It's said that a picture is worth a thousand words so here are some shots of what went on.

After thunderstorms that came through during the night, the morning was beautiful! We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful setting! The music was inspirational and spoken word touched the hearts of everyone there.

Even some folks that were passing by just for an outing stopped and participated.

Breakfast was served at the end of the service. Everyone was having such a good time that afterwards, no one seemed to want to leave.

Later in the evening we went to a birthday party. We had decided not to buy chocolate eggs for ourselves this year because they have gotten so expensive (you can buy them in three to six payments on your credit card if you need to). This may seem foreign to lots of people, but they’ve always been a part of our Easters celebrated here in Brazil. They’re always wrapped up in a way to attract your attention.

But it’s what’s inside that counts – great chocolate!

Anyway, at the party everyone got a big chocolate egg to take home. Yum! I’m glad we didn’t miss out!
