No, it isn’t my birthday today, that was this past Sunday. Today is Joel’s and Rachel’s birthday.
It’s hard to be so far from family on days like this.

Mom and I love you lots, and wish you the very best for today and the year ahead!
Sue has been traveling the past few days to a wedding. She gets back this afternoon. I survived pretty well in her absence, though I did get kind of lonely. I was grateful to a couple of families who invited me over for meals during that time.
This past Sunday was a pretty quiet day for my birthday, at least until evening. Carla, from church, made me a chocolate cake and everyone there sang Happy Birthday (in Portuguese of course). After the service, about twenty of us went out for pizza to celebrate. I was a little concerned initially because it’s a tradition that the person celebrating the day has to pay for everyone, but thankfully, Guto and Vanice picked up the tab in my place. Everyone at the pizzeria sang to me again, and I got a free chocolate pizza (oh, soooo tasty!) with a candle since it was my birthday.

The past couple Saturdays have been busy with the teens from church. The last Saturday in February we went to hear the band “Attitude” (one of our former young people plays in the group) though the music was louder than I’m used to, the message was very good and the kids thought it was all great! The first Saturday of March we had a meeting with two other church youth groups with about thirty kids involved. They were responsible for the music, one of our ABWE MKs (missionary kid) Adam Smallman gave the study and did a very good job.
