Out to Lunch

It seems that during this past month, when we haven't been in seeing doctors, we've been at home recuperating. Sue's surgery went well, and we're thankful for that. The doctors have been pleased with her recovery and that no complications have occured (outside of a bladder infection). Their major concern was that she doesn't have a spleen and thus no immune system.

Life has gone on though.
The weekend of August first, Bauru celebrated another anniversary with lots of activities. Though we didn't get out for any of them, we did get to enjoy the air show.
We watched from the back porch of our apartment, and it was quite spectular with the planes flying right over us.
Sue's first outing was to church service last Sunday. Then on our wedding anniversary, I took her out to get her hair cut, then out to lunch afterward, and finally ending the day with the doctor for another post-op check-up. She was exhausted by the time we got home, but agreed that it was just fun getting out.
Last night we went out for the fifteenth birthday party of one of the kids from our youth group. In Brazil, the fifteenth birthday party is a big event for the girls, on the scale of a wedding. This was "invitation only" which had to be presented at the door to get in. We arrived a little before eleven, and things were just getting started. There were about three hundred people celebrating inside the club with other wannabes waiting outside.
The theme was Phantom of the Opera, and the place was decorated like an opera house with a large chandelier above the center of the room with a fog machine. Even the guys at the bar, mixing great tasting non-alcoholic tropical fruit drinks, wore phantom masks.
The food kept coming non-stop the whole evening.
Around midnight, Ingrid came down the staircase in her gown,
making an entrance to dance a waltz with her dad.
From there the DJ took over. Sue was tired and we felt it best to head home, but it was fun to get out for a night.

Today, not much is happening beyond finishing up the study for tonight's youth group, and this time to touch base and let folks know that we're still hanging in here.
