Some Like It Hot!

Hot! That’s the only way to describe the weather here – day after day in the mid to upper nineties. According to the weatherman, a “cold front” should pass through tomorrow that’s supposed to bring temps down into the eighties, making it feel almost like Christmas! Ha! But, hey, I’ll take this over snow anytime!
Last week we wrestled with a virus that somehow infected Sue’s computer and destroyed all of her files.
It was a tough reminder to back up files once in a while. Now she’s working on redoing a lot of stuff that was lost and had saved only on hard copy…but backing them up this time!
We have a great group of university students who are under our care at church while they study. (There are 6 universities in Bauru.) We invited them over for supper one night last week. Of course it was finals week so only two out of the eleven invited were able to come. We still had a great evening together though. We’ll try it again next semester and plan ahead to not have it during finals!
There was another wedding this past weekend at church as well. December in Brazil is like June in the states for weddings and graduations. Sue helped some with decoration, but this event was a catered affair which handled most of the setup and takedown for the sit-down dinner they had after the ceremony. Fernanda and Fabio made a handsome couple, and as they are new believers in this past year, the ceremony was a beautiful testimony of their commitment to include Christ in their life together.
Early Sunday morning, Sue was back at church with some other ladies to help clean up from the wedding and put up decorations for Christmas. The place now reflects the season. This weekend is the Christmas cantata. What progress the choir has made since we began in September. This is the first time the choir has ever sung in parts, quite a challenge because only four in the group know how to read music plus we’re doing it with playback so no one can lag behind!
No, this last shot isn't the decorated church, it's the mall (with Sue on the landing by the tree). Time is getting close and there’s still some shopping to do before Christmas so I’m going to close this and go someplace, like the mall, that’s air-conditioned. But yay! Aaron and Rachel will be in Brazil in a week!
