Chocolate Maker Nestle buys Jenny Craig!

If that’s the truth, super-size me on her diet plan! Even though Valentine’s Day is celebrated today in the states, around here stores are building up to Easter with aisles filled with big chocolate Easter eggs with shiny colored aluminum wrappers. Valentine’s Day in Brazil is celebrated on June 12.
This morning, Sue and I were grocery shopping at Wal-Mart (yes, ours is one of seven cities in Brazil that has Wal-Mart),
and this is what the main aisle looked like.
To avoid congestion, the eggs are hung from overhead racks. The chocolate egg is hollow inside and filled with other chocolates or a toy. Some have an inside layer of caramel nougat or other flavor. Ummm, ummm good!

Last Sunday evening I ended up preaching twice- once at our church and then a quick trip over to our sister church, Community Baptist. Missionary colleague Dave Smallman was sick. They were afraid that he might have dengue fever, but it appears to be a virus, which he passed on to his kids. Folks at our church were concerned as we left so quickly after the service ended instead of staying for fellowship time, but with an hour difference between services we arrived just in time to preach. I even did two different sermons rather than a repeat.

The first of our small groups started last night. Of the nine people signed up, only four showed up. We had a nice visit while waiting for others to come, but when no one else showed, decided to have a prayer time for our small groups instead of beginning a new study.

There’s not a lot else going on around here that’s interesting to write about so I’ll close for now.
