Innov8

The church is preparing for Friends Day this coming Sunday. It will be held at a chácara - country house - just outside of town. It’s an opportunity for our people to invite friends and family who normally wouldn’t come into church, to see what Christians are like (pretty much normal people) and hear about Jesus as Savior. Along with our worship time there will be lunch, games and all kinds of activities throughout the day. We are trying innovate for activities for the day. Not always easy, but I think we have some pretty good new ideas to get folks involved. A safe fallback is soccer when all else fails. Then again we go through this each week we lead the youth meeting as the kids are always up for anything new.
On her days off, Sue innovates as she is finishing up the scrapbooks for our kids. Between ESL classes (she’s teaching right now), discipleships and a new Bible study that we started last night, there’s not a lot of time left over, but those books should be ready by Christmas this year, hopefully.
We were glad to talk with Aaron in San Diego, and know that he and Rachel are safe right now from the fires that are all around them. He was sent home from work yesterday because of the fires and especially the smoke around where they are building, and they are both off work again today. It is a difficult and dangerous situation, and the losses so enormous. He just asked to pray for rain.
Though we need the rain, we’re praying that it doesn’t rain here especially on Sunday for all of our friends.
